I am passionate about farming, particularly organic farming and the plight of farmers in drought-stricken rural Australia. The necessity to do something and create bright futures for generations to come has become my passion, and hopefully something that in a few years time I can look back on and be proud of.
These things don't happen by accident. It is a team approach and I have had the endorsement and support of our entire team at Marketing Eye. They have been phenomenal in every way.
There have been challenges; setting up a not-for-profit namely and secondly finding someone to run it. We have a few candidates for running The World Incubator, and are sorting through that now.
What many people don't know is that The World Incubator is just the start. Our intention to ensure that this incubator is successful, then roll it out in other rural communities is part of the bigger plan. To do that, we will need more people on-board.
This is a real charity, so work for The World Incubator other than the absolute necessary costs will hopefully all come from sponsorship. I know my firm has been diligent in giving in every way possible and I hope others will follow that lead.
Giving back is something everyone should do, especially if you have been privileged enough to benefit from other people being kind or living in a community as fortunate as the one we do.
I will personally be spending most of March in Charters Towers, employing people, speaking to people in the community and providing some ideas for those entrepreneurs who are a little stuck on what to do. The set up of the incubator will happen in this time and will require the support of the entire community. We will invite the community to come in and visit anytime for our tours of the work that people in the Incubator are doing. That will be exciting for everyone - especially giving affirmation to people in the Incubator that their idea has legs.
Some facts you should know about Charters Towers:
- Based in North Queensland
- 134 kilometres inland from Townsville
- According to Wikipedia, in 2011 the population was 8,234
- During the last quarter of the 19th Century, the town boomed as the rich gold deposits under the city were developed.
